About Chestnuts Australia Inc.

Chestnuts Australia Inc. (CAI) is a representative body and non-profit membership organisation that supports Australia’s chestnut industry.

CAI serves as an umbrella organisation, representing and progressing the interests of everyone in the chestnut industry, including growers, packers, wholesalers, exporters, researchers, and retail outlets.

The CAI office is run out of Myrtleford, Victoria.

Cost

Joining fee – $60
Single – $165 per annum
Family/Partnership – $200.00 per annum
(Subscription 1st July – 30th June)

History

Chestnuts Australia Inc. was formerly known as The Chestnut Growers of Australia Ltd, which was formed in 1991.  Membership is drawn from all over Australia and includes representation from suppliers, large commercial growers, hobby farm enthusiasts, nurserymen and women, Agriculture Departments and other horticultural experts.

In 2006, the association changed its name to Chestnuts Australia Inc. and with it came the current logo for the industry.

Why join?

The money raised each year from CAI membership goes to running the Office and ensuring we are an accessible first point of contact for all chestnut industry members.  Money is also used to fund independent research when necessary, for example Nut Rot and Chestnut Blight.

  • Connecting growers and buyers
  • Conduit for information between industry, researchers, government and other peak industry bodies
  • Coordinating grower walks and information days
